In August, a hero father tore into a house to save a baby and a family from a raging fire.

Mick O’Beirne was out in Pinner Road, when he noticed a roof on fire in the flats above a shop.

The 38-year-old kicked in the door without a second thought for his safety and led a distressed mother with her three-month-old baby quickly to safety.

Harrow Council refused planning permission for a housing development on the site of The Powerhouse, in West Street.

The scheme was halted in its tracks when the council determined the site was “arguably the most sensitive area in terms of heritage in the whole borough.”

A former Conservative councillor became the first woman to be awarded the freedom of the town.

And Daniel Neagu, a Romanian builder of Athlestone Road, appears in court after he caused £4m worth of damage to five new-build houses with a green company digger.

Part of the 31-year-old’s defence for causing the alleged criminal damage of a development site belonging to McCarthy & Stone Retirement Living was that he was left "disgruntled" over being sacked.
