A notorious rapist is selling his flat for £250,000 in the hopes of funding his bid for freedom.

The 61-year-old John Worboys was convicted for attacks on 12 women in 2009 – he has been in custody for ten years.

He decided to sell the one-bedroom ground-floor flat in Enfield that he owned since 1989, after the High Court blocked his parole from a minimum eight-year sentence after public uproar.

Worboys has had the same tenant in his flat, located in what the estate agent calls a “sought after residential development” in Enfield , living there for 26 years.

Worboys has spent a total of ten years in custody.

The Parole Board previously approved his release on the strict conditions that he would report to probation staff every week and was barred from contacting his victims.

However, in November it was announced that he will remain in prison.
