Huge plans for more than 600 homes and two village squares on top of “scrubland” in Kidbrooke have been submitted to planners.

Transport for London has partnered up with Notting Hill Genesis under the banner Kidbrooke Partnership to submit plans for the major regeneration project dubbed Kidbrooke Station Square.

The developers have proposed 619 homes in what would be phase three of the Kidbrooke Village development, which is currently under construction.

Together, the Village and Station Square development would form the “Kidbrooke Hub”.

The developers have proposed 619 homes – 50 per cent of which have been earmarked as affordable, with 152 set to be London Affordable Rent and 157 shared ownership.

The homes would be spread across eight new buildings, from nine to 20 storeys high, towering over a new square below.

The site is currently north of the station, and is currently “underutilised” and mostly scrubland.

According to Notting Hill Partnership: “The site, Kidbrooke Station Square, provides an excellent opportunity to deliver new homes and commercial uses at land adjacent to Kidbrooke Station.”

As well as the hundreds of homes, the major development would have shops, offices and a two new public squares set outside the station – which itself has been subject to a planning application for a revamp.

A nursery, “flexible retail units” and a new bus and station interchange would also be constructed should the huge development be given the go ahead from Greenwich Council.

In its planning summary, the partnership said: “The Kidbrooke Station Square scheme will deliver a high quality residential-led redevelopment of this accessible but underutilised brownfield site.

“It will create a vibrant new place and community, complementing the Kidbrooke Village Centre and completing the Kidbrooke Hub, whilst making a significant contribution to local market and affordable housing delivery.”

The huge scheme is currently being considered by planners at Greenwich Council.
