Ten fans were arrested last night as Crystal Palace's trip to Brighton was again marred by crowd trouble.

Football was a side-show in last year's fixture, as over 100 Palace fans were refused entry to the stadium and six arrests were made.

This season's fixture brought similar trouble, with Sussex Police making four arrests in the city, three at Falmer railway station and three at the Amex stadium.

Palace lost the game 3-1 despite having an extra man for much of the game, after Brighton centre back Shane Duffy was sent off.

Assistant Chief Constable Steve Barry said: “We were very pleased with the policing operation, which with the support of the security team and stewards at Brighton and Hove Albion ran very smoothly. Aside from a small number of localised incidents, the supporters of both sides were generally good-humoured and patient and I thank them for their co-operation.”
