A second man has been charged following a shooting in Wimbledon earlier this week.

A 23-year-old man was shot on Monday as armed police swooped to foil the robbery of a cash van.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police Flying Squad along with marksmen were lying in wait to stop the cash-in-transit raid outside a supermarket.

Officers confronted suspected robbers outside a branch of Sainsbury's in nearby Haydons Road at about 8.10am on Monday.

Abdirahman Mohomad Omar of St John's Drive in Wandsworth appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court yesterday where he was remanded in custody to appear at Kingston Crown Court on Friday, December 21.

Now police have revealed the name of a second man charged with conspiracy to commit robbery.

Brooklyn McFarlane, 23, also of St John’s Drive, was charged yesterday (December 4).

He appeared in court earlier today and was bailed to appear at Kingston Crown Court on December 21.

Prior to appearing in court, McFarlane was taken to hospital but has since been discharged.
