An 8-year-old girl from Tadworth, diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, had an 8-minute run for charity at Kingswood Primary School on Friday.

Reanne Buckley’s condition is a rare, inherited disease which affects connective tissue and can make joints dislocate easily and ache.

People with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome may have skin that bruises easily, experience dizziness after standing up, problems with internal organs, and experience extreme tiredness.

Reanne took on the exhausting challenge to raise £371.60 for Children In Need despite knowing it would result in pain and fatigue the next day.

Her mum Fiona Ringwood said: “The whole thing was her idea. She wanted to do something for children that are worse than her. It pulled at my heartstrings.

“She knew she would be very tired the next day and would be in a lot of pain. It was very emotional for me.

“[During the run] we kept telling her to slow down. The determination on her face. She was not going to slow down.”

She added: “I am very proud of Reanne. She is my superhero. Knowing how poorly she would be the next day.”

After the run, Reanne suffered pain her legs and severe tiredness but was treated to lunch in town, a Smiggles advent calendar and several children’s books the next day.
