Plans to concrete over “wasteland” in Biggin Hill and build a block flats and a house have been submitted.

Developers want to build a three-storey block of apartments and a detached house on land in Stock Hill.

Earlier proposals for the site were for eight flats, but the developer has scaled this back after concerns of overcrowding.

According to the application, the land has been “left to go to wasteland”.

A smaller scheme for a block of six apartments up to three storeys and a detached two-storey house has now been submitted, and will be considered by officers at the council.

Neighbours have objected to the scheme, saying parking is already too stretched in the area.

One neighbour said: “Parking has become hard to find around here, especially since Laurel Bank Close was built, with insufficient parking for it’s residents.

“Every household around here has at least two cars.”

Another said: “The proposed development would be out of character with the prevailing pattern of property in the close vicinity, and would be detrimental to the character and appearance of the surrounding area.”

The developer has included seven parking spaces in the development, but neighbours say this is insufficient.
