An investigation is underway after ten tonnes of domestic rubbish was destroyed in a fire at a recycling centre.

Around 25 firefighters were called to Waldo Road in Bromley just before 7pm yesterday (November 6).

Nobody was reported injured and the fire was under control by 9.45pm.

The cause of the fire is now being investigated.

A statement from Bickly Councilors read: "Following the fire at our Reuse and Recycling centre, it is very much business as usual this morning, with the site operating as normal.

"Colleagues, staff from Veolia and the London Fire Brigade (LFB) were quickly at the scene, with Veolia assisting the LFB by moving the waste as part of the dampening down process.

Damage to the site will clearly be assessed in due course, with a localised loss (on site) of power/lighting and some smoke damage.

"This fire was much smaller than previous historic incidents, with quick responses no doubt helping with containment."
