An ultra athlete from Caterham cycled from London to Brighton on a penny farthing last Sunday.
Mark Bayliss, 41, climbed upon his vintage bicycle at sunrise on November 4, heading to Brighton as part the 122nd Veteran Car Run.
The annual motoring event, now in its 122nd year, is open to cars, bikes and cycles built before 1905.
The unique achievement is just another to add to Mr Bayliss' impressive list.
He has raced 5 Iron distance triathlons, 37 marathons, 35 ultra-marathons and even the gruelling Marathon des Sables, a 251km race through the sahara desert.
Bayliss leaving London
Mr Bayliss trained hard for the demanding task, mainly at night and the weekends, fitting his regime around his work as director of Croydon based Wings Transport Ltd.
The biggest challenge was the many hills on the route, as the penny farthing has no gears and a fixed wheel.
Mark arrived in the bright sun shine of Brighton at 12 noon making a total journey time of just under 5 hours.
Mr Bayliss said: “Apart from some sore bits I found the experience exhilarating.”
