An investigation has been launched after an 18-year-old man was fatally stabbed in Greenwich.

Police were called to Armitage Road last night (October 22) at 9.25pm.

Officers found an 18-year-old man suffering from a stab injury outside Collins House, however he was pronounced dead at the scene at 10.03pm.

The man's next of kin has now been informed and a post-mortem examination is to be held today at Greenwich Public Mortuary.

Detective Chief Inspector Richard Leonard said: "We know that several people reported seeing the victim in a confrontation with three other males on mopeds before an altercation in which he sustained his injuries.

"The males then rode away from the scene. I need anyone who may have information that could assist us to make contact as quickly as possible."

A crime scene remains in place and an investigation has been launched by the Homicide and Major Crime Command.
