Two men in their 40s have been arrested on suspicion of murdering father-of-two Ian Tomlin.

Mr Tomlin was killed on Wednesday, October 17 outside of his home in a 'senseless' and brutal attack.

Police arrested the two men seperately at Wandsworth addresses, with CCTV proving vital to the ongoing investigation.

Chief superintendent Peter Gardener said: "This senseless and tragic murder has caused the family immense pain and we empathise with them."

Supt. Gardener reassured residents in Doddington Estate that they should feel safe and there will be  an increased police presence in the area following the incident. He also urged anyone with information to come forward.

"I can understand that there may be some reluctance in speaking to the police, but I want to reassure everyone that any information shared will be treated in the strictest of confidence," he added.

"We have worked closely with the resiliant community in the past and will continue to do so. We are doing a full review of all the calls Mr Tomlin made to the police and all open cases from the estate are being looked at."

Last year, 54 arrests were made in two phases in relation to drugs and offensive weapons. But CI described this as an 'unusual incident'.

The area has been a problem for drug dealing in the past, which is why the Violent Crime Task force ran an operation in the area last year.

A post-mortem is ongoing to establish a cause of death.
