Older residents are benefitting from the care and support offered in day centres and care homes operating across Richmond.

Council and volunteer-run Day Centres provide older people with a place to go to socialise and receive assistance from trained staff and volunteers whilst still living in their own homes. These centres offer hot meals, planned activities and outings for older people in the borough.

Meanwhile, care homes are live-in facilities which provide food, accommodation and 24-hour medical care to its residents. Care homes often have individual en-suite rooms with access to communal areas.

Cllr Piers Allen, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Services and Health said: “As we mark 70 years of social care in the UK, this is a good time to thank those people working tirelessly as volunteers, nurses and doctors in our care homes and day centres across the borough to provide the best possible care to those who need it most.”
