Police are searching for a 54-year-old man in connection with a spate of burglaries in south London.

Detectives have released Michael Darnley's image as they wish to speak to him. Darnley, of no fixed abode, is wanted in connection with 12 residential burglaries since March 2017.

In each incident, homes in Croydon, Lambeth, Wandsworth and Merton were broken into during the day whilst homeowners were out. Quantities of jewellery, cash and electronic equipment were stolen.

Detective Constable Chris Tucker, from Croydon CID, said: “We believe the suspect is a prolific burglar who has targeted homes in south London for more than a year.

“Darnley is also wanted on recall to prison and failing to appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court in relation to handling stolen goods.

“We believe he is known to frequent the Croydon, Wansdworth, Merton and Lambeth areas. We would like anyone who knows of his whereabouts to contact police as soon as possible.”
