Bat Walk

Mari Wilson

For the past 18 months, Mari has been touring her show to sell-out audiences and her new album, Pop Deluxe, has been met with rave reviews. Get ready for Mari’s unique interpretations of the songs of Dusty Springfield, Petula Clark, Sandie Shaw, Cilla Black and more, the Brit girls who inspired her as she was growing up in North London. Mystery and Mischief in Moomin Valley

Stephen Bourne Reading

Stephen Bourne is a writer, film and social historian specialising in black British heritage and gay culture. Stephen will give an engaging and informative talk about his new book War to Windrush - Black Women in Britain 1939 to 1948. Commemorating the 70th anniversary of the arrival of the Empire Windrush, War to Windrush explores the lives of Britain's immigrant community through the experiences of black British women during the period spanning from the beginning of World War II to the arrival of the Empire Windrush in 1948.

Katherine McMahon Reading

Katharine is the author of ten novels. Katharine’s latest novel, The Hour of Separation, is set in the early 20th century, and is an epic story of love and betrayal in two world wars. One of its main characters is born and bred in Watford. Life in war-time Watford is contrasted with Brussels under German occupation. Katharine’s theme, over ten novels, is to draw extraordinary women from the shadows of history and through her fictional characters explore the past and its relevance to the modern world. Katharine will read from The Hour of Separation after which she will be happy to answer audience questions.
