Armed police, local officers and even a helicopter were sent out to Cannon Hill Common last night after reports of a shooting, but it turned out to be nothing more than a hoax.
Just after 10pm last night, police were called to the park after numerous reports of the sound of gunfire.

But quickly after arrival officers discovered the source of the noise was not gunfire.
In fact it was the sound of fireworks going off in a wooded area on the common which had been set up on a timer.
No firearms or evidence of their usage were found. No suspects have been located and enquiries are continuing.
