A drunk man who trespassed on railway tracks during rush hour because he thought it would be funny has been fined £100.
Samuel Tando pleaded guilty at Staines Magistrates' Court on Thursday to trespassing on the track at Walton-on-Thames station in south-west London.
The court heard how Tando, 18, was drunk and was seen running from the station platform onto the railway track on July 5 at about 5.20pm.
A police helicopter was called out to track Tando as he ran across live rails trying to evade police.
Trains were forced to slow down to avoid hitting him, resulting in commuter misery as several trains became delayed.
Tando, of Dominion Road, Croydon, was eventually caught, his antics having been recorded on the helicopter's CCTV camera.
Speaking for the prosecution, Mr Capes said: "He was a danger not only to himself but to others."
Speaking in court, Tando said: "I was very drunk and thought it would be funny to trespass.
"I realise now that it was dangerous."
Tando was fined £100, ordered to pay a £15 surcharge and £43 costs.
