A festival with up to 10,000 revellers could come to Morden Park in September.

Tickets are already on sale for Diynamic Festival, although Merton Council has not yet granted organisers MJMK Limited a licence for the event.

Tickets for Diynamic, which is expected to take place on September 8, range from £20-£60.

The licensing application is set to be discussed by the council on Monday (August 13).

The site would start being set up in the park from September 3 and taken down by September 12.

The application outlines that there would be four bars on site, include two VIP bars which would operate from 11am-9.30pm.

Music would be played from 11am-10pm, when the event would end.

The application was submitted on July 7, and it has since received 17 public objections including from St Helier ward councillor Denis Pearce.

Cllr Pearce said: “The fact that there is a request for up to 10,000 attendees begs the question not will there be petty crime but how much and at what level does anybody find acceptable.

“Pickpocketing would be easy for skilled person in a tight crowd of 5 to 10 thousand.

“Illegal drugs passed around and dealing, and some legal highs in sight of impressionable young sections of the audience.

“The possibility of violence which we would regard as more serious, spontaneous or with deliberate intent is there.”

MJMK has appointed F1 Acoustics to manage noise levels at the festival and will be in charge of producing a noise management plan as well as a post event summary.

The proposal adds: “The festival organisers will set up and maintain a hotline number for residents to call directly should they wish to complain about noise.

“If a complaint is received, then F1 Acoustics will attend the property and monitor the levels to ensure that the levels within the agreed levels.”

Another festival, Eastern Electrics, was held at Morden Park on Saturday and Sunday (August 4-5).

It saw some Merton residents taking to social media to complain to the council about the noise.

An employee of MJMK told us nobody was available to comment on the plans.

A description on the ticket buying site said: “Diynamic comes to the UK for the first time this September, hosting a London festival with Solomun, Adriatique and more inside the capital’s Morden Park.

“The label already does a festival in Amsterdam and showcases around the world, but this will be the first time UK fans will have the chance to experience the unique Diynamic vibe on home soil.”

Merton Council’s licensing sub-committee will meet at the Civic Centre from 10.30am on Monday (August 13).
