Former Chelsea and England footballer Ray Wilkins has passed away aged 61.
The midfielder has died after suffering a cardiac arrest at his home in Cobham last Friday. He was placed in an induced coma at St George's Hospital, Tooting.
He had a glittering career, playing for clubs such as Chelsea, Manchester United, Queens Park Rangers as well as captaining the England national team.
After retiring from professional football, he coached at his former club Chelsea and most recently was assistant coach to Tim Sherwood at Aston Villa. He also featured as a television pundit on Sky Sports.
Tributes have poured in from the football community, with former club Chelsea tweeting: “Everybody associated with Chelsea Football Club is devastated to learn of our former player, captain and assistant coach, Ray Wilkins. Rest in peace, Ray, you will be dreadfully missed."
Ray leaves behind his wife Jackie and his grown up children.
