A park in Wandsworth will be transformed temporarily into an extravagant Circus Garden.

Shillington Park, will be renamed Battersea Circus Garden from May 4 until May 13 as part as of the Wandsworth Arts Fringe Festival.

The park, on Este Road, will be home to the pop venue The Big Top, which will host circus entertainment, including international acrobatic troupes, contemporary circus, dance, physical theatre and family friendly entertainment.

The season will also feature live music, participatory workshops and family fun, marking the 250th anniversary of the invention of the art form Circus.

Acts include Lost in Translation, performing The Hogwallops; Port Dance Theatre Project’s Pibroch Tales and Fauna, which features five young acrobats.

Flora Herberich, Battersea Circus Garden producer, said: “It’s very exciting to bring such an array of circus to Wandsworth– there’s a whole range of fantastic work from traditional skills based shows to experimental contemporary circus, all presented in the beautiful surroundings of a genuine big top tent. Definitely something for everyone!”
