A teenager was shot dead near a cinema complex.

Police were called to Hollywood Green, High Road, Wood Green, at 12.32am on Thursday following reports of a shooting.

Armed police attended along with London Ambulance Service and found a 19-year-old man suffering from a gun shot injury.

He was taken by ambulance to a central London hospital where he died a short while later.

His next-of-kin have been informed.

A post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

The Metropolitan Police's Homicide and Major Crime Command are now investigating.

There have been no arrests at this stage and enquiries continue.

Detective Chief Inspector Luke Marks said: "At this early stage, we're trying to piece together exactly what has happened. However we believed two people made off on a moped shortly after the incident and this is one line of enquiry that we're actively pursuing.

"We would urge anyone who witnessed the incident, or has any information to come forward and speak to police as soon as possible."
