Tottenham Hale regeneration plans have moved a step closer with the signing of a partnership between a leading development company and Haringey Council.

The agreed framework with Argent Related details the building of 900 homes over the next five years, some of which could be completed by 2020.

Community groups, schools and businesses could soon be invited to talks with both the company and council, where feedback on various aspects of the framework will be encouraged.

Leader of Haringey Council, councillor Claire Kober, said: “This is a significant milestones in our ambitious plans for Tottenham Hale.

“We look forward to working with Argent Related to deliver hundreds of new homes, jobs and opportunities for Haringey residents.”

Argent Related is currently working on a similar joint venture with Barnet Council on the 180-acre Brent Cross South site.

Robert Evans, partner at Argent, said: ”We look forward to progressing our plans and to presenting them to the Tottenham community.

“This partnership has come about because both Argent Related and Haringey are firmly committed to making Tottenham Hale a better place to live, work and spend time in.”

New shops, cafes and restaurants and community facilities are also part of the planned redevelopment.

Tottenham Hale - which has the Victoria Line, National Rail and potentially Crossrail2 connections – could become a place people flock to because of its vibrancy.

The underground and railway station is itself currently undergoing £20 million worth of improvements.

All improvements are part of a wider redevelopment of the region, which include a new district health centre, employment and skills programmes for local people and more green spaces.

Other regeneration projects include: the £750 million rebuild of Tottenham Hotspur football ground; the £60 million Grainger Apex House development at Tottenham Hale; town centre improvements at Tottenham Green and Holcombe Market; and, the opening of the National College for Digital Skills at Tottenham Hale.
