CHAS & DAVE are coming to Hayes Beck theatre this month.

They pioneered the 'Rockney' genre with their blend of memorable songs, music-hall humour, and rock'n'roll and having recently released the critically acclaimed ‘That’s What Happens’, their first studio album in 27 years, Chas & Dave are back on the road in 2016 for further tour dates, kicking off at the Theatre Royal, Windsor on February 26.

In a career spanning 50 years and counting, they are without doubt one of Britain’s longest running and best loved rock acts.

Arriving on the music scene in the 70s with hits such as ‘Gertcha’, ‘Rabbit’, ‘The Sideboard Song’, ‘Margate’, and ‘Aint No Pleasing You’ they created a sound that was uniquely British and rockin' to boot.

And it’s those songs that have ensured that the boys have continued to tour for over five decades to audiences across the world, enchanted by their down-to-earth charm and great song-writing.

Chas & Dave’s appeal has never been greater or more varied. The audiences are getting younger without the boys deliberately trying to appeal to the youth, and new bands such as The Libertines are citing them as a major influence.

Having played to thousands of delighted people at the Glastonbury festivals in 2005 and 2007 and at Bestival in 2012, their contribution to popular culture was recognized by BBC Four with an hour-long documentary detailing their career and influence.

The hugely popular show featured input from Jools Holland, Phill Jupitus, and Pete Doherty among others.

That recognition was enhanced when they were invited to play the finale of the 2013 Royal Variety Performance with a rousing sing-song featuring the likes of Gary Barlow, Robbie Williams, Mary J Blige, and Jessie J singing along to 'London Girls'!

The same year, Chas & Dave performed a sold-out debut show at London’s most iconic venue, the Royal Albert Hall, and made numerous headline-grabbing festival appearances at Sonisphere at Knebworth.

They were also recognized by the esteemed Nordoff Robbins Foundation who awarded Chas & Dave the 2014 Silver Clef Icon award at a ceremony that included fellow award-winners Pharrell Williams, Paloma Faith, Sir Tom Jones, and Giorgio Moroder.

Their first studio album in 27 years, the critically acclaimed, ‘That’s What Happens’, saw Chas & Dave return to their roots with a collection of early R&B, skiffle and rock n’ roll classics alongside new takes on songs of their own and featured Albert Lee, Martin Taylor, Buddy Holly and The Crickets’ drummer J. I Allison, Jools Holland and Hugh Laurie.

They were recently asked to take part in the 70th anniversary VE day celebrations and performed at the BBC/Royal British Legion ‘Party to Remember’ concert at Royal Horseguards alongside the likes of Status Quo, Gregory Porter, Catherine Jenkins, and many more.

Chas & Dave will be at Hayes Beck Theatre on Friday, October 28.
