A TALENTED Southall young woman will perform with West End Kids as part of the Queen’s 90th Birthday celebrations at Windsor Castle today.

Tanya Bailey, 20, of Blackmore Avenue, will be performing with the UK’s highest profile musical theatre song and dance troupe in her last season with the company.

The celebrations over the weekend will include more than 1,500 people telling the story of the Queen’s life, from birth to charting the coronation and her reign.

“It’s a huge honour to be invited to perform at the Queen’s 90th Birthday Celebration,” said Tanya.

“And in such a prestigious venue too! I hope they like what we’re preparing for them!”

As well as documenting the Queen’s life, the piece will document her dedication to the Commonwealth and her involvement with the Armed Forces.

The performance will last 90 minutes and will include such stars as Katherine Jenkins and James Blunt and more than 900 horses.

Though the torrential downpours earlier in the week may have an impact on the Royal Windsor Horse Show, the young performers from West End Kids may have to get used to singing in the rain.

The troupe will be performing at other renowned events throughout the country including the Chelsea Flower Show, West End Live and Camp Bestival.

West End Kids gives youngsters aged 10-18 a chance fulfil their dreams by performing on main stages with a well-respected youth company.

The performers are then able to stay until they are 21. Tanya is one of the longest serving members, and is in her fifth and last year.

“This is Tanya’s last season with us, but she’s going out on a high,” said founder and artistic director Martin-Gwyn Williams.

”This will be a fantastic experience and will be very special for us to be involved in.”
