A campaign has been launched to promote apprenticeships in Harrow.

Harrow East MP Bob Blackman said the schemes offer brilliant opportunities to both young people and businesses.

Mr Blackman is one of 100 MPs who have pledged to champion apprenticeships in their local area – and ensure that their constituents benefit from the increasing number of apprenticeships on offer.

He said: “Apprenticeships offer a brilliant opportunity for local businesses to help develop the careers of talented young people here in Harrow, ensuring the workforce of the future has the skills it needs.

"It’s worth remembering that people like Jamie Oliver, Stella McCartney and even Alex Ferguson all started their careers as apprentices - not to mention many of the today’s business leaders.

"I want local young people to be the rising stars of the future, and local employers to help grow that talent. So if you run a business in Harrow and want to find out more, please do get in touch so we can discuss your plans.”

The formal launch of the campaign will be held in the House of Commons next month.
