A man pulled out a machete during a street fight outside a fishmongers in Lewisham – the second knife row in the area in two days.

Video footage posted on social media shows two men grappling with one another outside My Fish in Lewisham High Street at around 2.25pm on Sunday (December 6).

One of the men can be seen holding a machete in his right hand as he throws punches with his left.

But Met Police said officers arrived to find no trace of a disturbance and no-one injured.

Witness Patrick McAteer wrote on Twitter: “Walking on Lewisham High Street and a fight breaks out and this guy pulls out a f***king machete.”

The 20-year-old told News Shopper: “When we came out of Primark there were cars beeping and I'm not sure whether the people in the car were involved or not but it seemed that way.

“There were two guys fighting and one of the guys had a big knife. Loads of people were running towards the fight.

“They were really going for each other though, hitting each other and one was swinging a knife at the other.”

Police remained at the scene investigating on Sunday afternoon.

On Monday morning, staff at My Fish and the surrounding shops appeared to be keeping quiet about the fight, telling News Shopper they had not seen what happened. 

A passerby named Arabella posted the video of the fight on Twitter.

On Saturday morning, a 22-year-old was taken to hospital with stab wounds to the head and back and a man was arrested after another brawl in Lewisham High Street.
