March 14, 2001 9:56: A barman who saw in the New Year with a celebratory tipple lost his licence for 12 months last week after police caught him drink driving in Waddon.
Officers saw Robert Fuller, from Sydenham Road in Croydon, drive through a red light on Fiveways Corner in the early hours of January 1. The 55-year-old pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol at Croydon Magistrates Court on March 7, but maintained he had only consumed a small amount after his shift.
Fuller was banned for a year, fined £200 and ordered to pay £55 court costs.
