A man and woman have been caught on CCTV shoplifting a range of Avengers toys from Argos.

The footage released by Waltham Forest police shows them stuff the Marvel merchandise toys into bags at Argos in High Road, Leytonstone.

The pair entered the shop and stood by the catalogue section before they walked over to the merchandise and each picked up two boxes.

They then put three of the four toys back, while the woman held onto one and walked towards the centre of the store.

As she talked to the man, she placed the toy in a paper bag.

The man then went back to the catalogue and pretended to browse as the woman picked up a second toy.

She does a quick 360 degree turn to check no-one is looking and put the second toy in her bag.

Seconds later, they both pick up a handful of boxed figurines and quickly walk out of the store.

In total, nine toys worth £120 were stolen during the theft on April 25 at around 6.10pm.

A member of staff spotted the theft and told staff who then viewed the CCTV and phoned the police.

The footage has been released as part of a joint venture with the Metropolitan Police to identify perpetrators of unsolved crimes in the borough.
