A driver was arrested today (July 11), after a bus and car crash in Beckenham at 1am - which caused a bus to smash into someone's front wall.

The single-decker Route 358 bus crashed through the front wall of a house on Upper Elmers End Road, after swerving to avoid the car, which was reportedly 'on the wrong side of the road'.

A stationary car, parked in the driveway of the house, was written off.

Vicky Filkins, who lives on Upper Elmers End Road, said: "My neighbours are distraught."

The 47-year-old added: "We heard the big crash, it woke me up.

"We looked out of the window, the bus was in our neighbour's garden.

"There was a young girl.

"The bus driver said she was coming down the wrong side of the road and he hit her.

"Her car spun in the opposite direction.

"I think she was drunk. She looked drunk, she seemed drunk. I could smell the alcohol on her.

"The bus driver was really shocked, but okay.

"The noise was really loud."
