More than 150 pupils 'Raced for Life' this morning.

The three to 16-year-olds from Braeside Infant and Secondary School's in Palmerston Road and High Road took part in the event on the High Road Cricket Ground at 10.30am.

Parents, teachers and children all took to the track and ran for 30 minutes each in a bid to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Students, who were all given a bottle of water and a medal, wore pink clothing and personally decorated posters on their backs in memory of friends and family.

More than £2,300 has been raised, however the total is still growing from online donations.

Senior Teacher Gretchen Copeman said: "It has been an absolutely fantastic event.

"I am so proud of the children, parents and staff that took part today.

"I think everyone worked really hard and exceeded their expectations of how well they would do.

"We are looking forward to seeing how much we have raised."
