Want to have your say on who’ll be living at 10 Downing Street after the General Election? Make sure you’re registered to vote by April 20.

Haringey Council is leading the charge to ensure all eligible residents are signed up in time to vote in the election on May 7, following recent changes to the voter electoral registration system.

The introduction of individual elector registration means it’s now up to each individual to make sure they’re registered – it’s no longer enough to assume someone else at your address has signed you up.

To make sure everyone is aware of the changes, the council’s voter registration bus has been touring the borough – allowing people to simply hop on board to sign up.

A series of short films shining the spotlight on why voting matters – with real voters sharing their views – has also been produced.

Haringey Returning Officer Nick Walkley said: “We are determined to offer every single eligible voter in Haringey the opportunity to join the electoral register in time for the General Election.

“If your name’s not listed by April 20, you won’t be able to vote on May 7.”

There will be two Parliamentary seats up for grabs in Haringey – Tottenham and Hornsey & Wood Green – and a potential voter base of around 158,000.

All you need to register is your name, address and National Insurance number. More information can be found at www.voting.haringey.gov.uk or by calling Haringey Council’s Electoral Services team on 020 8489 1000 or emailing elections@haringey.gov.uk
