November 22, 2000 19:57: The man found stabbed to death in a wood last week has been named as 25-year-old Steve David Jindu.
Mr Jindu's body was found by a passer-by in a small clearing on Horsenden Hill, about 80 yards from Horsenden Lane North, at 12.40pm on Tuesday.
A post-mortem held at Ealing Hospital that night gave cause of his death as stab wounds.
Mr Jindu was of Iraqi descent, but had been born and brought up in London.
When he was found, he was wearing Gap khaki trousers, a black Gap T-shirt, a blue denim shirt and brown Kickers boots.
Mr Jindu's car, a green VW Passat, was found abandoned at the junction of Mattock Lane and Bond Street in Ealing.
Police don't know whether the car was abandoned on Sunday evening or Monday.
Police are appealing for information from anyone who was in the Horsenden Hill area at the time or anyone who spotted Mr Jindu's car in Ealing town centre last week. Witnesses should call DCI Norman McKinlay on 8247 7821, or Crimestoppers free and anonymously on 0800 555111.
