A 75-year-old woman has died after being hit by a car in the carpark at David Lloyd in Sidcup.

The woman was standing by a parked car when a grey Mercedes A Class hit her and two other parked vehicles at 3pm this afternoon (March 9).

Sadly, she was prounced dead at the scene.

Baugh Road has been cordoned off by police and David Lloyd is closed.

Amanda Batey, 40, of Rectory Way said: "I heard loads of sirens and saw flashing lights when I went to pick my daughter up from school.

"I wondered what the hell was going on.

"It's so sad, it's awful."

Jenna Roberts, 25, was met by tragic scenes on her way to a gym session.

She added: "I can't believe it.

"I was just going to the gym when I was turned back by the police.

"I can't stop thinking about the poor lady's family - it's tragic, it's so sad."

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

A Met Police spokesman said: "Enquiries are underway to inform next of kin.

"A post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.

"The driver stopped at the scene - there have been no arrests.

"Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit based at Catford investigate and ask anyone with information to contact them on 0208 285 1574."

David Lloyd tweeted: "#DLSidcup is currently closed due to an incident. We apologise for the inconvenience."
