A man was cut out of a white lorry following a collision in Greenwich’s Blackwall Tunnel this morning.

Police were called to the scene at around 7.30am where the tunnel was closed while the London Fire Brigade cut the male driver out of the Mitsubishi lorry.

He was taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service (LAS) but police say injuries are not thought to be life changing.

No arrests have been made.

A LAS spokesman said: “We were called at 7.34am to reports of a road traffic collision in the Blackwall Tunnel. We sent an ambulance crew and an officer to the scene and treated a man reported to be in his 40s for back pain.

“He was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich.”
