Grown-up gags, family-friendly jokes and banter for the ladies will all be on the bill for the second instalment of Kingston's annual comedy festival next month.

Laugh Kingston will take up residency across a number of venues in the borough hoping to be bigger and better than the year before.

In aid of charity appeal Love Kingston, top quality performers will take to the stage for a series of shows to raise money for the borough’s most vulnerable people.

Organiser John Gower says: “This year we are going down the route of stand-up comedy more so. We have got some great acts lined up – there will be some exclusives too.

“The acts are really exciting – they range from humour that will appeal to 14 to 16-year-olds to acts that will appeal to older ladies and families.

“There is something for everyone and the quality is high.”

Acts already announced for the festival include comedians Meryl O’Rourke, Sam Carrington, Jordan Brookes, Damian Clark, Adam Jones and puppeteer Sam Jones of Britain’s Got Talent fame.

Laugh Kingston 2013 raised £1,000 for Love Kingston, but this year the target is even higher.

Elaine Miller, fundraising manager at Love Kingston, says: "We are thrilled to be the benefactors of such an amazing festival.

“The work that has gone into it and all the support we have got from the acts is incredible.

“It’s nice to have a little bit of a laugh and make people smile when you’re fundraising while knowing that you are helping some of the community’s most vulnerable people.

“I went last year and it was hilarious. I have every confidence it will be a sell-out this year."
