Tributes have been paid to a grandmother who died after being hit by a number 71 bus in Kingston over the weekend.

Flowers have been laid at Cromwell Road bus station after a 78-year-old woman was struck on Saturday afternoon.

She died later in hospital.

The identity of the woman has not yet been revealed – but messages left at the accident site this week pay tribute to “Nanny” and “Mum”.

One message read: “To nanny – I will always remember your lovely smile and generosity.

“Remembering you always, Rebecca. Xxxxxxx”

Cromwell Road bus station was closed following the accident, with traffic being diverted through Kingston’s one way system.

An investigation has been launched into the tragedy by Metropolitan Police, Transport for London and bus operator, London United.
