The Sky Garden is London’s highest public garden and absolutely free to enter.
Located at an exhilarating 155 metres above ground level at 20 Fenchurch Street, the
Sky Garden offers visitors a unique fusion of nature, art and panoramic views of the
city of London.
Take a short lift ride up to the Sky Garden, upon exiting you are greeted by the
gorgeous skyline of London while you stand amidst the diverse array of shrubbery
and plants within the Sky Garden. There are many seating areas to enjoy the best of
these two worlds with this glass encased sanctuary. There is an open air balcony for
the brave where you can take in visible landmarks such as the Gherkin, the Shard,
Tower Bridge, the London eye, Canary Wharf, St Paul’s Cathedral and the Thames.
The best time to visit is in the summer, when the sun is out and clear skies
undoubtedly allows you to enjoy the immersive 360 degree view of London. If you
have planned a short trip to London and time is short you can cheat by seeing most
landmarks from the Sky Garden. It will also save you the hassle of navigating London
traffic to see the sights.
You can book tickets 3 weeks in advance but only if you plan to visit before the
evening. Visiting at 6pm on weekdays and 9pm on weekends allow you to enter
completely free, although beware of the long queues, so ensure that you arrive early.
No visit to the Sky Garden would be complete without indulging in the culinary
offerings at the selection of restaurants within the Garden. You can choose to enjoy a
casual or a gourmet meal, 155m in the sky, but beware sky garden restaurants are
usually booked up weeks in advance. You can also choose to have tea and cake or a
coffee whilst you take in the fabulous London Skyline.
The bar typically opens from 8am to 12am or 8am to 1am where you can have a drink
and enjoy the views.The Darwin Brasserie opens from 8:30am to 10 or 8:30am to 10:30pm.
The Fenchurch restaurant offers dinner from 5 - 9pm on Tuesdays and lunch from 12-
2:30pm, Wednesday to Sunday.The Larch Restaurant offers breakfast from 8 - 10:30am, Monday to Thursday and offers lunch and dinner from 12 - 9:30pm, Monday to Sunday.
If you are an early riser the Sky Garden offers early Morning Yoga at 6:30am, 8 or 8:30am for £10. The Sky garden also hosts live bands and DJ nights in the evenings.
