The final episode of season 4 of Ru Paul’s Drag Race aired on the 24th of November this year on BBC 3 following the previous episode where the contestants battled it out in a comedy based challenge with drag queen Pixie Polite  narrowly missing a place in the final.

The final contestants consisted of four drag queens, Black Pepper, Jonbers Blonde, Cheddar Gorgeous and Danny Beard. All four queens were given the challenge of writing their own verse to be added into host and main judge, Ru Paul’s music tracks and complete a dance routine whilst lip-syncing to their version. The top four queens were joined with the previous winners, The Vivienne, Lawrence Chaney and the reigning winner, Krystal Versace as a source of motivation for the final runway looks.

After the runway, the judges decided that the top two were Danny and Cheddar and gave them the task of lip syncing to the song ‘This is my life’ by Dame Shirley Bassey and resulted in Danny taking the crown as this season’s ruling queen.

Danny’s main goal for their drag is to celebrate their facial hair and defy gender norms whilst also having fun and considering their drag to be “Serving up gender blender with a (tiny) slice of fashion” as they proudly said on their instagram. Danny brings a breath of fresh air in the drag scene and overall is a worthy winner for the title.

What’s next for Danny Beard?

The prize for winning the UK version of Ru Paul’s reality show is an all expenses-paid trip to Hollywood to create their own digital series with the producers of Ru Paul’s drag race, World of Wonder better known as WoW. We all hope to see more of her in the future and hope her success on Drag Race broadens her career further.
