Many fans are in uproar as Ticketmaster cancels the public on-sale of tickets to a number of North American show dates ahead of Taylor Swift's upcoming 2023 tour, 'The Era's Tour.'

At the beginning of the month, renowned singer-songwriter Taylor Swift announced (much to the excitement of her fans) that she would be returning to the stage for her first world tour after 5 years. Naturally, the news began to circulate twitter as "Swifties" (the self-proclaimed name of Swift's fans) anxiously awaited confirmation of admission to Ticketmaster's "Verified Fan Pre-Sale" which aimed to filter out any bots to ensure that Taylor's most devoted fans had early access to the ticket-buying craze that was certain to ensue. However, in pure ticketmaster fashion, this did not quite work out and due to a presumable glitch in the system the bots managed to get their hands on the tickets and began to sell them for up to $28,000 - a price that was nowhere near the price set out by ticketmaster.

This influx of over-zealous ticket-buyers thus ended in disaster, causing ticketmaster to release a statement annoucning that today's on-sale would be cancelled due to 'extraordinarily high demands on ticketing systems' (source: @Ticketmaster, twitter.) As a result, many unlucky fans who did not get selected for the pre-sale link were left devastated that the option to buy tickets would not be open to them.

Following the chaos, Swift decided to take to instagram where she issued a statement claiming that it has been 'excruciating for me [Swift] to just watch mistakes happen with no recourse.' Will Swift find a way to compensate her disillusioned fans? And will she use different strategy to sell tickets for the international leg of her immensely anticipated world tour?

For now we will have to just wait and see but after a fiasco of this extent, it seems likely that this could be last time ticketmaster fails to master efficient concert ticket sales...
