Despite the world that we live in today becoming increasing digital, I still find there is a great joy that one gets listening to radio and there are some many ways that the radio brings a benefit to your life.

You may question why one would listen to the radio in a world where you can access music through streaming sites such as Youtube and Spotify and think that the radio is a thing of the past but I believe that radio shows make you feel like connected to all the other listeners and give you a sense of community.

There is comfort in turning on the radio and have a radio presenter in the same room as. To me, the experience of listening live is far supreme to than that of a streaming service. A radio presenter feels like your friend who will sometimes make you laugh but will also sometimes annoy you as any friend does.

Another reason why I love radio is how you have a curated playlist of music and you are introduced to so many new artists who you have not heard to.

One particular radio station that I enjoy is Radio 1 and in particular I often listen to Radio 1 Breakfast with Greg James who is on every weekday. One feature on his show is the Tune of the Week in which i am introduced to new artists and I have grown a love for artists such as Ben Howard and Maisie Peters from this. Especially in lockdown and the uncertainty that came with it, the absolute of nonsense of features on  the show, such as the Fact Controller, where listeners say all the things that they should have known sooner(and the stupidity of somone of these are always are great laugh )is a welcome distraction from all the worries that one has.

So I urge you, when you feel like you need motivation in the morning or just need distraction, just turn the radio on, you won't regret it. It is a great way for you to unwind and take a break from the pressures of life.
