On Saturday the 30th of October, Fulham Football Club played against West Bromwich Albion in the Championship. The result, after the full 90 minutes, was a 3-0 victory to Fulham, leaving Fulham in second place in the league with 32 points and West Bromwich Albion with 28 in third place in the league. The game kicked off at 12:30 and over 18,000 people watched the game at Craven Cottage, the home of Fulham Football Club.

All three of Fulham’s goals were scored by Alexsandar Mitrović, who as aSerbian professional footballer, plays as a striker for Fulham and for the Serbian national team, where he is the all time leading goal scorer. Alexsandar Mitrović is 27 years old and Fulham Football Club signed him for £22 million on a five year contract that lasts until June 2023. Mitrović has now scored 18 goals in 15 games and is at the top of the Championship top scorers’ chart this season.

Should Fulham have won this game? Both teams created lots of opportunities to score: Fulham had 15 total shots compared to West Brom’s 11, with only 4 of Fulham’s on target compared to West Brom’s 3 on target. Both teams also received a red card. Fulham’s centre back, Tosin Adarabioyo, received a red card in the 85th minute, for a two footed tackle, while West Brom’s player Darnell Furlong received his red card in the 70th minute, as he was the last defender and he prevented a goal scoring opportunity. Another statistic that suggests the score could have been different was that West Bromwich Albion put 27 crosses in compared to Fulham’s 9. This gave West Brom an aerial threat over Fulham’s defence and this was shown in the first half when Fulham’s keeper, Marek Rodak, made some excellent saves to prevent a headed goal from West Brom. Inside the box, Fulham took 9 shots while West Brom took 10 shots which is fairly even. As a Fulham fan I think that Fulham deserved to win the game, but we were lucky to get away with a clean sheet considering some of the opportunities that West Bromwich Albion had in front of goal.
