Why sleep:

For some, sleeping can be one of the most valued time of the day. For others, sleep is a distraction. Either way, sleep is one of the most important things for a human being, regardless of how tired you are. In a nutshell, sleep deprivation is caused by consistent lack of sleep. Getting less then 7 hours of sleep on a regular basis can eventually lead to health consequences. In simple words, your body needs sleep, as much as it needs food and water. But why? What people do not realise is that without sleep, your brain and body systems wont function normally. It can also dramatically lower your quality of life.

 So, why would people choose other leisure activities instead of sleeping? This is because, as we all know, sleeping is not the easiest thing to do for some people. We have all heard that phrase, “ah just one more episode, it never hurts.” As a matter of fact, it does hurt, more then we realise. If your lack of sleeping continues, it can affect your overall health and make you prone to serious health conditions such as obesity, heart diseases and diabetes.

As a study showed, the longest recorded time without sleep is approximately 264 days, or 11 consecutive days. Although it is not clear exactly how long humans survive without sleep, it is not long before the effects of sleepless nights start to show, such as hallucination. So next time you think about not prioritising sleep, think again, or else….
