last night...

...I wore my black pencil skirt, heels, and black Roland Mouret Galaxy-style top - an outfit that has, in the past, got my boyfriend salivating. Beyond salivating.

me me me

Over the last few weeks I've been playing every song on my little iPod Nano in alphabetical order, partly to spare myself the agony of choosing what mood I'm in, therefore what song I should be listening to, and partly to get myself out of ruts - the week where I listened to nothing but the Beatles springing to mind. It's been a mostly unbroken streak, except for those few and far between occasions when I go to the gym and frankly nothing but Ultimate Floorfillers (this is my youth, people) is going to get me moving on that treadmill.

delusions

Last week, among a dizzying spate of violence and death - one incident at Streatham Ice Arena occurring only yards from my door - an 18-year-old Angolan refugee named Roberto Malasi was sentenced to 30 years in prison for murdering two women in as many weeks.

Top Five Fridays, introduced

Today I'm trying something new. Maybe it's because Friday is the fifth working day, the last day before the weekend and generally a time for utter time-wasting frivolity, but Fridays will henceforth be known as Top Five Fridays, and that basically means that in the style of someone who's read High Fidelity far too many times, I will pick a Top Five of any subject, give my answers, and you are invited - nay implored - to submit your answers to the Top Five in question. My friend Rob and I made a hobby of this a few years ago - we'd spend entire working days on email, and I have to say it's quite fun (if you're a total dork like I am and, quite frankly, if you weren't, why would you have read this far?).

the week of belly-warming fare

First it was the threat of snow. Then the snow itself, which was all pretty. Then the gloomy, slushy aftermath of snow, and apparently the transport systems couldn't cope with that either. But whatever - it's been cold all week and although I often complain of the cold, I know it's serious when I arrive home after the five minute walk from the bus and my nose has not only lost all feeling, but is giving Rudolph a run for his money.

My loved one died and all I got was this lousy $50m

If you pay attention to the showbiz headlines, especially those pertaining to R'n'B artists who haven't done a damn thing in years, you may have noticed a story about American singer Brandy Norwood, better known as just Brandy.

Which to hate more? - the tiredness, the germs or the all-powerful UAE phone company?

Coherent, cheerful and enthusiastic reporting of Saturday night's dinner party (which I completely forgot to take any pictures of - possibly a sign it was a good evening) will have to wait, as today it's all I can do to string a sentence together, much less an optimistic-sounding one.

Oh yes.....that

Well, haven't I been quite the hopeless slacker this week? Not quite so much as my flatmate who is currently taking her notice period from her old job as holiday and spends most of the day sleeping, but, in blogging terms, a slacker nonetheless.
