THERE'S a gaggle of worthy-cause gigs this week, including a Love Orient Hate Racism event in Leyton and an Oxfam fund-raiser with some top names in Walthamstow.
The anti-racism-in-football event takes places after Leyton Orient FC's home game against Bury this Saturday (October 15).
Performing are rather good local acts including Steve White & The Protest Family, Corporal Machine & The Bombers and Graham Larkbey.
It's at the Birkbeck Tavern in Langthorn Road behind Leyton Tube station.
The show kicks off (ba-ba-da-boom) at 7.30pm and is free..
It's part of the annual One Game, One Community project sponsored by Leyton Orient FC and promoters What's Cookin'.
Then on Wednesday (October 19) the Standard Music Venue hosts the Walthamstow leg of 'Oxjam', headlined by acclaimed solo artist PolarBear.
Performing ahead of an 11-night run at Camden's Roundhouse, Mr Bear, aka Steven Camden, has won praise for his mix of hip-hop and spoken word, and has regularly appeared on BBC Radio 1, 3, 4 and 6.
Support comes from poppy The Melting Ice Caps and low-fi electronic act Barbarossa. It's hosted by Akira The Don, who will also be performing.
The show is part of hundreds of events this month held to raise money for charity Oxfam.
