Sound Advice: All aboard the Hillbilly Express! Mmmm bluegrass
Bluegrass five-piece the Hillbilly Express perform at the Loughton Folk Club this Thursday (July 28).
It costs just £3, with a £1 discount for members.
The show is at the Loughton Club in Station Road, and doors open at 8pm.
Rock act Horizon's Edge play the Standard Music Venue in Walthamstow this Thursday (July 28).
Support to be confirmed. Entry is £6 or £5 with a band flyer and doors are at 8.30pm.
Thomas Bailey headlines the North Star pub in Leytonstone on Thursday (July 28).
Support comes from The Aristocrats. It starts at 8pm and is free, although donations welcome.
Then on Saturday (July 30) the venue hosts alt country rocker Jason Ringenberg.
Also performing are Suzette and The Neo Angels.
It's from 8pm and is free.
Mai Hernon plays Walthamstow Folk Club next Wednesday (August 3).
She's a traditional Irish singer from Sligo and has just returned from a five-week tour of America.
She is joined by guitarist Ray Coen and son Seamus who plays the flute.
It's at the Red Room downstairs at Ye Olde Rose and Crown pub in Hoe Street and admission is £5.
Doors open at 7.30pm.
The Ivy York Band play the Luna Lounge in Leytonstone on Friday (July 29). Said to mix country and Bollywood music, this is a unique seven-piece act.
Doors open at 8pm and entry is free.
The venue is in Church Lane.
The Square in Harlow celebrates the end of the school year and start of the summer holidays with an all-ages 'School's Out' night on Sunday (July 31). Remember – there's no school in the morning!
Among the young acts playing are rockers Cyanide, Loser Token, Fallow Fiels, Silent Voices Kill and This Way To The Station.
It costs £5 entry and doors open at 5pm.
Waltham Abbey Folk Club has a Singaround jam night on Monday (August 1).
It's at the Royal British Legion HQ in Brooker Road, starts at 8.30pm and costs £1.50p.
