During the christmas period, it is incredibly important to support one another within our local community, which is exactly what my local church has recognised.
Pre- lockdown, it has become even more of a priveledge to be coming together as a community, sinse we were unable to do so in isolation. Recognising this, the members of my local church, as well as local Guide and Scout groups, have hosted a Christmas fair with stalls selling handmade goods, second-hand novels and films, and even run sweet tombolas, which have been hosted in outside marquees. As well as raising money for charity, this joyous atmosphere created at church brought our local people together in a safe environment, while following Coronavirus guidelines.
Within my Guiding Community, we have also sent homemade Christmas cards to seafarers across England, who are unable to return home to their families during the Christmas period. Support like this can have such a positive impact on somebody's life, so please be mindful of others, and to connect with those around you this Christmas.
