The Play That Goes Wrong is a creative and absolutely hilarious show, currently running in the Duchess Theatre in London. The Play That Goes Wrong is the perfect comedy to go watch with either your friends or family and it’s sure to be an enjoyable experience for everybody. This show has won multiple awards such as the Olivier Award for Best New Comedy and it is the 2017 Broadway World Winner for the Best New Play.

This performance is exactly what the title leads one to believe, a production that goes outrageously and highly comically, wrong. The actors play a down on their luck, laughably inept, Drama Society that is struggling to put on a decent re-enactment of a 1920’s murder mystery. From the get go, nothing goes as planned! Props constantly seem to break down and the ‘members’ of the Drama Society regularly encounter a variety of hilarious mishaps; such as being hit on the head by an assortment of different objects or messing up their stage cues.

I had the immense pleasure of watching this show live on the 27th of April and it was truly one of the most entertaining and imaginative pieces I’ve seen. The play includes some audience participation in the beginning and it makes the audience feel as if they are actually part of the show. The performance is ingeniously planned out and some of the special effects definitely make it a very exciting experience. From the beginning to the end of the play there wasn’t a single person in the audience whose sides didn’t ache from the amount of laughing that this spectacle produced. Katya Prokofieva, a member of the audience, commented that, “It was a refreshing comedy and a great way to finish my friday evening.” With similar endorsements from many of those that watched it, it really highlights the originality of the play and how one really can’t Go Wrong if they buy a ticket and experience it for themselves.
