On Thursday 29th March, from 10:00 till 12:30, a drama competition between the houses took place at Sutton High School for Girls (SHS). This competition's aim was to gain points for houses so they can win the title of 'The Best House of the Year.'

The four houses of SHS are Henrietta Stanley, Dora Black, Francis West and Phyllis Mudford King (PMK) who, due to Stanley's victory this year, were replaced by Henrietta Stanley in the leading position of most points. However, PMK was an extremely close second with Dora Black trailing behind it. There were three judges on the panel, who were able to choose the best performance. One of the judges was the deputy head teacher, who alos teaches drama:another judge was a guest, who was previously the head of drama.

Each house had to re-enact a summarised version, with 15 minutes as a maximum, of a movie of their choice. House meetings were arranged in order for the house captains to discuss what movie was to be performed: each house voted which movie they preferred. Students could volunteer to audition as it was not compulsory; each house has a high standard for drama therefore the auditions were intense as the house captains allocated appropriate roles - there was a wide range - depending on their audition. Preparations began during February: rehearsals and set meetings started. Stanley had a winning theme of Finding Dory, PMK won 2nd place with Madagascar as their choice. However Dora Black chose a more magical theme with Enchanted whereas Francis West chose a more comical topic, like PMK, with Despicable Me.

People thought it was great entertainment and it included fantastic performances. Moreover, this was another succesful year of amazing drama peformances.
