RAG week means raising and giving. But this year’s RAG week at Rosebery School was so much more: drawing and painting, singing and dancing, making and selling, buying and eating – and laughing. A lot.

The craziest week in the Rosebery calendar drew to a close as half term began; five days of intense excitement and fundraising to support the Children’s Trust in Tadworth, Shelter and the Meningitis Research Foundation.

And students certainly didn’t shy away from supporting the causes.

They cheered competitive teachers to victory in the Teacher’s University Challenge. They threw balls at obstacle-hurdling teachers during Teacher’s Total Wipeout. They laughed at nauseated teachers during I’m a Teacher, Get Me Out of Here. They were left speechless by dancing teachers in Teacher’s Top of the Pops.

But the teachers didn’t get to have all the fun; Tuesday lunchtime saw the much-anticipated showdown between Rosebery and Glyn netball teams. Defeated last year, the Rosebery team were triumphant this time, much to the delight of the slightly biased audience.

At break times, students put their handprints on the world records-themed mural painted over the previous two weeks, or gorge on the results of a records-themed baking competition, won by what may well have been the world’s largest cupcake.

With the addition of bags of sweets and Krispy Kremes on offer at events and break times, no one was unwilling to get involved. As one student said, ‘it’s the best week in school, everyone gets so into it. I’ve been to almost all the lunchtime events’.

The result: Five days that raised both exhilarating hilarity and £5000 for three outstanding charities. What better way to fundraise?
