Solipsism is the philosophy that everything I experience is a product of my mind and there is no reality beyond my matter. This means that you do not believe that anyone around you exists and also that nothing at all around you exists.

Everything is simply something that your mind created. For example, the table that you are sitting at right now isn’t real but just something created from you mind. This sort of thinking can then be applied to your own body and those around you.

This obviously leads to great danger as if one strongly believes that nothing around then is real and of any worth then they can behave abnormally and recklessly which could lead to insanity.

For example, since one does not believe their own physical body exists- just their mind, they may stop showering or eating or sleeping and lack motivation to continue with everyday activities.

This can then lead to concern from others around them about the state of their mental health as they watch a loved one deteriorate before them.

Even the creator of the idea of Solipsism, George Berkeley rejects the idea entirely as he acknowledges the great danger that comes with it. Berkeley argues that all things exist in the form of ‘ideas’ in the mind of God. However, Berkeley does believe that there ‘is no such entity as a physical world’ so he does not believe in the physical objects around him but does believe in other peoples minds and also believes in God. So, he does not believe that his mind is the only thing that exists.
