Another mutilated cat has been found in Norbury, South London: a victim of the so-called ‘Croydon Cat Killer’.  The cat, which was found dismembered, is believed to be the work of a criminal who has killed approximately 370 cats, foxes and rabbits since 2015. These incidents are incredibly regular, with SNARL – the South London Animal Rescue and Liberation – being called to around 4 killings a week.

The most recent cat was found dead on Green Lane on Saturday. A resident of Green Lane told me about the cat, “I was walking the dog when I saw the cat. I immediately noticed how it was decapitated and I thought of the articles I had read about the Croydon cat killer. I called SNARL who advised me to phone the police number 101 immediately.” The police are now investigating the killings, under the name Operation Takahe. The charities PETA and Outpaced will also give a £10,000 reward to anyone who provides vital information leading to the arrest of the killer.

The South London resident also told me: “It was quite shocking to find the cat, but what was more shocking was the fact that people had been walking past for hours and no one had realised it was the work of a cat killer. It made me realise the word wasn’t getting out there”

So, if you find a cat killed in this way, call 101 immediately to alert the police of this real and serious crime, or phone SNARL on 07961 030064. Be aware, keep your cats safe and spread the word about this evil spate of killings to help prevent more deaths of innocent felines.
